What is a UK ETA?

An electronic travel authorisation is permission to travel for eligible visitors. It is linked to your passport and is not a visa or a guarantee of entry. Border officials still decide whether you may enter.

How long is an ETA valid?

Normally for two years, or until the passport used in the application expires—whichever comes first. You can make multiple visits while it remains valid, subject to the permitted visit rules.

How long does the government decision take?

GOV.UK says a decision usually arrives within one day, but it can take up to three working days. Apply in advance and wait for confirmation before travelling. Using an agency cannot speed up the government’s decision.

Do children need their own ETA?

Yes, each eligible traveller needs a separate ETA, including babies and children. A parent or another authorised person can complete an application on their behalf.

Do I need an ETA for an airport connection?

If you stay airside without passing UK border control, an ETA is not currently required. If you pass border control, your nationality and circumstances determine whether you need an ETA or visa. Confirm your route with your airline.

What if I already have a UK visa or British citizenship?

British and Irish citizens do not need an ETA, including dual citizens. People with a valid UK visa or permission to live, work or study in the UK are also exempt. Other exemptions exist; check GOV.UK before applying.

Can I apply directly with the UK government?

Yes. You can apply through GOV.UK for the government fee of £20. OnePass Visa is an independent private service. Our quoted £99 total includes a £79 service fee and the £20 government fee; using a private service is optional. You pay once by card after submitting your details, and we pay the £20 government fee to the Home Office for you.

What happens if I get a new passport?

An ETA is tied to the passport used to apply. A new passport requires a new ETA application, even if the previous authorisation would otherwise still be valid.

Can I apply and pay on this website?

Yes. Submit your details and documents, pay by card, and we file your ETA application with the UK Home Office straight away. You receive a reference, an email when the application is submitted and another with the decision and your confirmation PDF.

Will my progress be saved?

Your answers stay in your browser until you start the final submission. That action creates a server record and uploads your selected documents; if it is interrupted, some data may already have been received. The form does not offer saved drafts or automatic recovery. After successful submission, keep your reference and use the status page to access your request with an email code.
